Greklands insatsstyrka har insett fördelarna med att använda vattenskotern som transportmedel där snabba och kvicka insatser behövs göras.
Following an invitation to tender conducted in 2010, the Special Forces Directorate has procured 12 Jet Skis Sea Doo RXT 215 from the Canadian Bombardier Recreational Products Inc (BRP), delivered at the end of February 2011.
The RXT 215 is 3,53 cm long, it weighs 383 kilos without load, it has a 3 people transfer capability if necessary, it bears a 60 lt fuel tank and 52 lt storage capability. It is powered by a multi-powered Austrian engine type Rotax 4 –TEC of 1494 c.cm , 215 hp, allowing maximum speed of 70miles or approximately 110km/h, while it can move with safety in sea conditions (SS) 4 and it can cooperate with subordinate Army and Navy means. The means were delivered along with spare –part stocks which are expected to be “augmented” by the procurement of special protective antiballistic covers (coats) and a specialized operator personal equipment (Operator – passenger), such as special type antiballistic harnesses- life-vests , helmets etc.
During 1-2 March the provided for in the contract checks-trials of the 12 Jet skis were realised along with the personnel training. Such a means of transport allows the planning and the execution of amphibious Special Operations, the dispersal of a segment aiming at an invisible penetration and its precise assembly because of its GPS.
